Troubleshooting & FAQ

Setup

The console says *** SETUP REQUIRED ***

Paper's world container does not match Blueprint's container-directory. Add this to bukkit.yml, move your worlds into the folder, and restart:

settings:
world-container: blueprint

See Installation.

My main world is brand new after setting up Blueprint

Paper started with world-container: blueprint before your world/ folder was moved into blueprint/, so it generated a fresh world. Stop the server, delete the new blueprint/world/, move your original world/, world_nether/, and world_the_end/ into blueprint/, and start again.

"Hub world 'world' is not loaded"

hub-world in config.yml names a world that does not exist or is not loaded. Set it to the name of a loaded world, usually your main world, and restart.

Commands

"Invalid world name"

The name does not match allowed-world-name-regex. By default names must be 3 to 32 characters of lowercase letters, numbers, hyphens, and underscores. See World names.

"World folder already exists on disk"

/bp create found a folder with that name in blueprint/ that Blueprint is not managing. If it is a world you want to keep, use /bp import <name> instead. Otherwise remove the folder and try again.

"No world data found for '...'"

/bp import could not find a region/ folder containing .mca files at blueprint/<name>/. Check that you copied the whole world folder, not just its parent, and that it is directly inside blueprint/. A world from single-player lives in saves/<world name>/; copy that folder.

"World '...' is closed and must be opened before teleporting"

Run /bp open <world> first, then /bp tp <world>.

"World '...' was loading, try again in a moment"

The world was marked open but was not loaded yet, usually just after a restart. Blueprint has started loading it. Run the command again.

"World '...' is currently busy"

Another clone, snapshot, restore, rename, or delete is running on that world. Wait for it to finish; large worlds can take a while to copy. See One operation at a time.

"A database error occurred" or "A file-system error occurred"

Something went wrong reading or writing files. The console has the details, prefixed with [Blueprint]. Common causes are a full disk, a folder the server user cannot write to, or a blueprint.yml edited into invalid YAML.

"Snapshots are disabled"

snapshots.enabled is false in config.yml. Set it to true and restart to take new snapshots.

Worlds and players

Everyone got teleported to spawn

Someone closed, snapshotted, restored, renamed, or deleted the world they were in, or cloned it as a source. Blueprint moves players to fallback-world before unloading a world. They can go back with /bp tp <world> once the operation finishes. See When a world unloads.

I logged in and was sent to spawn, not where I left off

This is intended. Players who log in inside a Blueprint world are always moved to fallback-world, in case the world was closed or deleted while they were away. Use /bp tp <world> to go back.

A world I locked is unlocked again

Taking a snapshot, restoring one, cloning the world, or closing it all clear the lock, and so does a restart with close-on-restart: true. Run /bp lock <world> again. See When a lock is cleared.

Players can still open chests in a locked world

Locking only blocks placing and breaking blocks, buckets, and hitting entities. Containers, buttons, levers, and doors still work. See Locked worlds.

Portals do nothing

Blueprint disables every portal on the server, including in your main world. Use /bp hub and /bp tp to move between worlds.

My imported world has void past its edges

Blueprint loads every world with an empty generator, so chunks that were never generated in the original world stay empty. Pre-generate the world before importing it if you need more terrain.

I turned mob spawning back on, but it switched itself off

Blueprint turns mob spawning off every time it loads a world, overwriting manual game rule changes. Spawn eggs and /summon still work. See Build-world rules.

I cannot find a world's folder on disk

Some Paper builds store custom worlds under the main world's dimensions folder, for example blueprint/world/dimensions/minecraft/<name>/. See Data Files.

FAQ

Can I use Blueprint on a survival server?

It is not designed for one. Blueprint disables portals across the whole server and forces build rules (no mobs, permanent day) on every world it manages. Use it on a dedicated build server.

Does Blueprint manage my main world?

No. Your main world stays under Paper's control and Blueprint's build rules are not applied to it. Blueprint only manages worlds made with /bp create, /bp import, or /bp clone.

Can I rename a world while people are in it?

Yes. They are moved to the fallback world while the folder is renamed, and can use /bp tp <new-name> afterwards.

Is there a reload command?

No. Restart the server after editing config.yml.

Does Blueprint support MySQL or SQLite?

Not at the moment. storage.type: yaml is the only option, and it needs no setup.
