Permissions
Every cosmetic has its own permission node. A player can only wear or fire a cosmetic they hold the node for, and a selection they lose the node for simply stops showing.
Nodes
| Permission | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
edeneffects.trail.<id> | op | Wear one trail, e.g. edeneffects.trail.flame. |
edeneffects.hat.<id> | op | Wear one hat, e.g. edeneffects.hat.halo. |
edeneffects.wings.<id> | op | Wear one set of wings, e.g. edeneffects.wings.angel. |
edeneffects.pet.<id> | op | Have one pet, e.g. edeneffects.pet.wolf. |
edeneffects.gadget.<id> | op | Use one gadget, e.g. edeneffects.gadget.paint_gun. |
edeneffects.join.<id> | op | One join effect, e.g. edeneffects.join.arrival. |
edeneffects.leave.<id> | op | One leave effect, e.g. edeneffects.leave.vanish. |
edeneffects.death.<id> | op | One death effect, e.g. edeneffects.death.thunder. |
edeneffects.admin | op | Staff node. Skips gadget cooldowns. |
edeneffects.bypass.pet-scale | op | Resize pets within the wider pets.scale.bypass range. See Pets. |
edeneffects.use | true | Declared for opening the menu, but not currently checked. Every player can open the menu regardless. |
The node for every cosmetic is listed in Cosmetics, and pet IDs are the entity type in lower case. Gadgets lists the gadget nodes.
Node prefixes are singular except wings: trail, hat, wings, pet, gadget, join, leave, death. The command and config keys are plural (/cosmetics trails, cosmetics.joins.enabled), so it is easy to mix them up.
Wildcards
EdenEffects registers these with the server on start, so they work under LuckPerms and plain Bukkit alike.
| Wildcard | Grants |
|---|---|
edeneffects.trail.* | Every trail. |
edeneffects.hat.* | Every hat. |
edeneffects.wings.* | Every set of wings. |
edeneffects.pet.* | Every pet. Does not include edeneffects.bypass.pet-scale. |
edeneffects.gadget.* | Every gadget. |
edeneffects.join.* | Every join effect. |
edeneffects.leave.* | Every leave effect. |
edeneffects.death.* | Every death effect. |
edeneffects.* | Every cosmetic, edeneffects.admin, edeneffects.bypass.pet-scale, and edeneffects.use. |
Ops have everything
Every cosmetic node and wildcard defaults to op, so an op can wear anything without extra setup. Because the nodes are registered with the server rather than left unknown, this holds whether or not your permissions plugin grants unknown nodes to ops. An explicit false in LuckPerms still wins, so you can deny an op a specific cosmetic.
Everyone else starts with no cosmetics.
Join and death effects used to be automatic for everyone, controlled by effects.join and effects.death. They are now cosmetics players choose, so after upgrading nobody sees one until you grant the nodes and they pick one.
Common setups
Everyone gets a starter set
/lp group default permission set edeneffects.trail.hearts true
/lp group default permission set edeneffects.hat.halo true
/lp group default permission set edeneffects.pet.cat true
/lp group default permission set edeneffects.join.arrival true
Supporter tiers
Grant whole categories to higher tiers so new cosmetics are picked up automatically:
/lp group supporter permission set edeneffects.trail.* true
/lp group supporter permission set edeneffects.join.* true
/lp group supporter permission set edeneffects.pet.wolf true
/lp group supporter permission set edeneffects.pet.fox true
/lp group patron permission set edeneffects.trail.* true
/lp group patron permission set edeneffects.hat.* true
/lp group patron permission set edeneffects.wings.* true
/lp group patron permission set edeneffects.pet.* true
/lp group patron permission set edeneffects.gadget.* true
/lp group patron permission set edeneffects.join.* true
/lp group patron permission set edeneffects.leave.* true
/lp group patron permission set edeneffects.death.* true
Leaving menu.show-locked on lets players see what the next tier would give them.
edeneffects.pet.* covers every mob in the game. To hand out pets more selectively, grant individual nodes (edeneffects.pet.wolf) and leave the wildcard for your highest tier.
Event rewards that expire
Give a cosmetic for a limited time and let LuckPerms take it back:
/lp user <player> permission settemp edeneffects.hat.crown true 7d
LuckPerms stores the expiry, so a week-long prize stays a week long across restarts. Other Anchorlight plugins (such as RuinRun) grant rewards the same way through StoneLib's PermissionService.grantTemporary. When the node expires, the cosmetic stops showing the next time the player's cosmetics are applied, such as when they join or change world.
Staff
/lp group moderator permission set edeneffects.admin true
This only skips gadget cooldowns. It grants no cosmetics of its own, so staff still need nodes for anything they want to wear.
Oversized pets for special ranks
/lp group builder permission set edeneffects.bypass.pet-scale true
The bypass is kept out of edeneffects.pet.* on purpose, so a rank given every pet by wildcard does not also get giant pets. It is included in edeneffects.*.
Without LuckPerms
EdenEffects checks permissions through the normal Bukkit API, so any permissions plugin works for granting nodes. Without LuckPerms installed, EdenEffects logs:
LuckPerms is not installed; temporary cosmetic unlocks will not work
Permanent nodes still work. Only rewards granted through StoneLib's temporary permission service are unavailable.
