Player Guide

Everything a player needs to know to use EdenEffects. Your cosmetics follow you to every server on the network, so you only have to set them up once.

Opening the menu

Run /cosmetics (or /cosmetic, or /ec). If your server gives out a menu item, right-clicking it in your hotbar does the same.

The main menu has:

  • One button per category: Trails, Hats, Wings, Pets, Gadgets, Joins, Leaves, and Deaths. Each shows how many you have unlocked (for example Unlocked 2/4) and what you have equipped. A category you are wearing something from glows.
  • Presets - save and swap whole looks.
  • Pet settings - rename, resize, and restyle your pet.
  • Clear everything - take off every cosmetic at once.

To jump straight to a category, use /cosmetics trails, /cosmetics pets, /cosmetics joins, and so on.

If a category says Unavailable on this server, this server has that type switched off. You can still browse it and change your choice, and it will show on servers that allow it.

Wearing a cosmetic

Click a cosmetic to put it on. It applies straight away, you get an "Applied" message, and the menu stays open so you can try another.

  • What you are wearing glows and is marked Equipped.
  • Remove at the bottom right takes off whatever you have from that category. Your other cosmetics stay on.
  • Each page holds 28 cosmetics, with Previous page and Next page buttons.
  • Back returns to the main menu.

Cosmetics you have not unlocked appear as grey dye marked Locked, so you can see what is available. Clicking one says "You don't have that one yet." (Some servers hide locked cosmetics instead.)

You can wear one of each type at the same time: one trail, one hat, one set of wings, one pet, one gadget, and one each of your join, leave, and death effects.

Clicking a cosmetic applies it immediately

The cosmetic types

TypeWhat it does
TrailsParticles behind you as you walk, with a bigger puff when you jump.
HatsA ring of particles turning above your head.
WingsParticle wings on your back that spread while you glide.
PetsA mob that follows you around.
GadgetsAn item in your hotbar that does something when you use it.
JoinsA burst of particles and a sound when you join a server.
LeavesThe same, where you were standing when you log out.
DeathsThe same, where you died.

Join, leave, and death effects are not worn, so you will not see anything after choosing one. You next see it the moment it fires.

Presets

A preset is a saved look: everything you are wearing, under a name. Presets are stored centrally, so they work on every server.

In the menu (/cosmetics preset, or Presets on the main menu):

  • Save current look asks for a name and saves what you are wearing. Saving over an existing name replaces it.
  • Left-click a preset to wear it.
  • Shift + right-click a preset to delete it.

By command:

/cosmetics preset save <name>
/cosmetics preset load <name>
/cosmetics preset delete <name>
/cosmetics preset list

Preset names are 1 to 32 characters of letters, numbers, -, and _.

Check the name before loading

Loading a preset replaces everything you are wearing. If you type a name that does not exist, you end up wearing nothing. Use /cosmetics preset list to check the spelling first.

If a preset contains a cosmetic you no longer have permission for, that one simply does not show.

Pets

Almost every mob in the game is available as a pet, listed alphabetically under its own name. Pick one from the Pets page, then right-click your pet (or use Pet settings) to open the pet editor:

FieldWhat it does
NameA custom name shown above the pet, up to 48 characters. Leave it empty to use the mob's own name.
Size (%)Resize the pet in steps of 5%. The range depends on your server, usually 40% to 160%.
Visible to othersTurn off to have the pet only visible to you.
GlowingGive the pet a glowing outline.

Press Save and the changes apply on every server. Your pet settings are kept when you switch to a different pet.

Pets follow you, walk around obstacles, and look where you look when you stand still. Fliers and water mobs circle around you instead. Pets cannot be hurt, cannot hurt anything, cannot be ridden, fed, or sheared, and disappear when you log out. See Pets for the full picture.

Gadgets

Selecting a gadget puts its item in your hotbar. Right-click the item to use the gadget, or run /cosmetics use.

  • The item shows the gadget's cooldown. Using it again too soon says "That gadget is still cooling down."
  • The item cannot be dropped, moved, or placed, and it is not dropped when you die.
  • If your hotbar is full you are told to make room. Clear a slot and select the gadget again.
  • Some servers turn off the gadgets that launch you (Grappling Hook and Balloon).

See Gadgets for what each one does.

Vanish and spectator mode

While you are vanished or in spectator mode, none of your cosmetics show, your join, leave, and death effects do not play, and gadgets cannot be used. Your choices are kept, and everything comes back as soon as you reappear.

Clearing everything

/cosmetics clear, or Clear everything on the main menu, takes off all of your cosmetics on every server. Your presets and pet settings are kept.
