Supporter Guide

This is the whole flow from a supporter's side. It takes a few minutes, and there is exactly one irreversible step in it.

There are two ways in.

  • On join. The first time you join after qualifying, a dialog appears offering to open Traverse. Choosing yes opens your link; choosing no dismisses the dialog permanently, and you can still use the command below.
  • On demand. Run /traverse in game at any time. You get a fresh link, plus a backup access code you can type in if the link does not open.

:::caution Links are single use and short lived An access link works once and expires 15 minutes after it is issued. That is deliberate: anyone who gets hold of your link could claim your location. If it expires or you already clicked it, just run /traverse again. :::

If the link fails, the app tells you why: the link is invalid, it has expired, or it has already been used.

2. Redeem​

Opening the link signs you in and starts a session that lasts three days. If you only have the access code, paste it into the redeem screen instead. Once you are in, you can close the tab and come back later on the same browser without a new link.

3. Say what home looks like​

Pick a primary landscape. You can choose either:

  • an individual biome, such as Birch Forest, or
  • a category your server's staff have defined, such as "Forests" or "Cold", which matches any biome in that group.

Optionally add a secondary landscape. Traverse then looks for places where both are present and close together, so you get a border between two landscapes rather than one of each somewhere in the region.

Finally choose a plot radius between 50 and 100 blocks, in steps of 5. This is the size of the area that becomes yours.

4. Compare your candidates​

Traverse searches the real world seed and returns a small set of candidates, typically three. For each one you see:

  • a preview map of the surrounding terrain, centred on the candidate but deliberately zoomed out and offset so it cannot be matched back to a coordinate,
  • the biomes matched inside the plot,
  • a match score out of 100, combining how much of the plot is your chosen landscape, how much of that is one connected piece rather than scattered fragments, and how close the two landscapes sit when you asked for a secondary.

You can hover the preview to identify individual biomes. What you cannot see yet are the coordinates.

Your candidates are saved. If you close the tab and come back, the same set is waiting; re-running the search does not reroll them.

5. Reveal​

Choosing a candidate and confirming the reveal does three things at once:

  • writes your claim and shows you exact X and Z coordinates and your radius,
  • retires the other candidates you did not pick, and
  • reserves your area, so nobody else is offered a candidate that overlaps it or sits within the world's minimum gap of it.

You get one reveal. There is no undo in the app. If something is genuinely wrong with your location, use the contact form described below and staff can release the claim for you.

6. Go there​

Your revealed view keeps your coordinates, your matched biomes, and your map, and there is a copy button for the coordinates so you can paste them in game. You can return to the app any time within your session, or run /traverse again for a fresh link.

Getting help​

The app has a contact staff form. Use it for:

  • a lost or dead access link,
  • asking for your access to be reactivated,
  • a location that turns out to be unusable,
  • a technical problem,
  • anything else.

Give the Minecraft username you play under, because staff often have no other way to work out who filed the request.

FAQ​

Can I search again if I do not like any of the candidates? The candidate set is generated once per supporter. Ask staff if you need a fresh search.

Does the preview map give away where I am? No. Preview images are rendered on the server, centred with an offset and a wider zoom than your plot, and the coordinates are never sent to your browser before you reveal.

Someone already claimed the spot I wanted. Claims reserve their area plus a configured gap, so Traverse will not offer you anything that overlaps. Pick a different landscape or ask staff whether more of the world is open.

How long do I have? Each campaign has a closing date, shown in the app. After it passes, the world stops issuing new access.
